Can you add heated floors without replacing my tile?
Not with an under-tile mat. The mat sits under the tile, so the floor has to come up. If your tile is in good shape, this is usually a feature to add at your next full remodel.

The heated mat itself is a small share of the job. The bigger number is the floor tile, which on our published cost breakdown is about 5–10% of a bathroom budget, and the electrical, about 5–8%. Your written quote lists the heated floor as its own line.

How a heated bathroom floor is installed
The subfloor is prepped flat, the heating mat is laid out to cover the areas you actually stand on, and it is embedded in thinset or a leveling layer before the tile goes down. The mat is tested before and after tiling so a fault is caught while it is still easy to fix.
It needs power at the thermostat location and, depending on size, may need its own circuit. We confirm that during the walkthrough, since adding a circuit usually means a City of Austin electrical permit.

Cielo Azul got heated floors as part of a full master bath suite, alongside a jacuzzi tub, automatic frosted window glass, a chandelier, custom vanities and a walk-in closet that carries the same look.
Drennan (January 2025) added heated flooring under new floor tile, with custom cabinetry in a muted blue, a stand-up shower and a shower niche.
Is it worth it in Austin?
Austin winters are short, but tile floors are cold for weeks each year and a warm floor also helps a wet floor dry. If the floor is coming up anyway, the added cost is modest compared to the remodel. We do not recommend tearing out a good floor just to add heat.
