How much does a powder room remodel cost in Austin?
Most land in the lower part of our published $8,000 to $18,000 bath refresh range. A simple swap of the vanity, light and paint can come in under it; moving plumbing costs more.
Half baths and powder rooms, Austin
A powder room has a toilet and a sink and no shower, so there is no waterproofing, no shower pan and no glass. That changes where the money goes: almost all of it lands on the parts your guests see. Bailey & Bear remodels powder rooms as quick, contained projects.

With no shower, the biggest costs on a normal bathroom, tile and waterproofing at about 25–35% and the shower or tub at about 12–20%, mostly disappear. What is left is the vanity, the wall finish, the light fixture, the mirror, the faucet and the toilet.
That is why a powder room is the one room where a bold choice is low risk. It is small, it gets little wear, and it is easy to change later.

On Courtyard the client wanted something different. We did a powder room renovation with interior paint, an accent wall, new fixtures and new lighting. The result is a dark, textured room with a statement pendant and mirror that is nothing like the rest of the house, which was the point.
Moving the toilet or sink to a new wall, adding a window, or turning a closet into a powder room all add plumbing and a City of Austin permit. Keeping the fixtures where they are keeps the job cosmetic, and like-for-like cosmetic work is generally exempt from a permit. See whether your remodel needs a permit.

Usually much less time than a full bathroom, because there is no shower to waterproof and tile. Lead times on a custom vanity or special light fixture are often what sets the date.
Often, if a drain can reach it with the right slope. That adds new plumbing and a City of Austin permit, which Bailey & Bear handles.
Not for like-for-like cosmetic work. You will need one if you move the toilet or sink, add a circuit, or change walls.
