Design choices that hold up to kids
Keep a tub if anyone in the house still takes baths. A tub-and-shower combination with a glass panel or curtain is still the most practical layout for young kids.
Choose floor tile that grips when wet. Smaller tile with more grout lines, or a tile rated for wet floors, is easier on bare feet than large polished tile.
Pick a vanity top that shrugs off toothpaste and nail polish, drawers instead of a single open cabinet, and enough outlets that nobody has to unplug the other person's things. A handheld shower makes rinsing kids and cleaning the tub easier.
Wellsprings: three bathrooms on one schedule
On Wellsprings (2024) the homeowners needed the guest bathroom, the kids' bathroom and the primary bathroom remodeled, plus the laundry room and new front and back doors.
